ONaWA'S LESSON PAGE
One... two... one, two, ready go!
Lesson 1
Onawa! Welcome to your lesson page. Today we're talking about what? That's right you know the title: "Here Comes the Sun" by who? You guessed it: The Beatles. So far we've been working on the chords and the fingerpicking pattern. Today we're going to add some of the melody. This is a very cool way to play guitar because you are covering the Bass, Chords, and Melody all at the same time. It's rad. Check out the chart and video and see if you can get the first two phrases for next lesson. No Pressure... One note on the chart: Be on the lookout for which numbers in the tab are being played by your thumb! Anything on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th strings in this arrangement are thumb notes. Good luck and don't mess it up! z

LESSON 2
Hi Onawa! I hope the week is going good and you are having some fun with the chickens. Here's a video to help you along with the first part of "Here Comes The Sun". Don't be afraid to take it SLOW!! Also here chords for Jolene. We can work on the strumming next lesson, but until then, you can go through the tunes and practice the chords. Just a reminder on the theory we were working on last week: To find the notes in a major triad (chord) you need to take the 1, 3, and 5 of the major scale. To make it a minor chord you take the 3 and flat it (lower it) by one note. So... in C major:
Scale is C D E F G A B C. C major chord is: C E G C minor chord is: C Eb G Have fun and I'll see you soon, z |

LESSON 3
Hey! Today we're talking about how to find the chords in a key. I explain it pretty well in the video and you can download the file to the right for more info. The main idea here is that we are building chords on each of the 7 notes in a major scale. Here are the steps: 1. Use WWhWWWh to find the notes in your major scale. 2. Build a triad on each note by using the 1, 3, 5 shape. (Take a note, skip a note, take a note, skip a note, take a note!) 3. Each chord has a roman numeral or number attached to it, so number each chord. 4. Remember that the chords are in order like this: Major, minor, minor, Major, Major, minor, diminished. Thats it! Example Key of C major: CEG, DFA, EGB, FAC, GBD, ACE, BDF. Try finding the chords in some other keys like D major, G major, and A major. Good luck! z

Yo! Here is the chart and video for the next section of "Here Comes the Sun." You're doing great on this! Take it slow and smooth... Also here is the chord chart for "Jolene." You are strumming this one great. Work on playing through the whole song with the simplified pick strum and sing. Then add the more complex strum down the road. Say hi to the chickens for me and keep working on memorizing your major triads!!! z

lesson 7
Salutations! This week we talked about the C major scale on the 1st and 2nd strings. We also looked further into the Beatles song...whats the name again.... and worked on playing the small sections with a good thumb groove. All of this is in the video! Remember when you're playing the Beatles stuff to give yourself four thumbs out front to set up the groove before you add the other notes! Have fun O. See you in a few days, z
