lesson 1 Finishing up "Fancy". You've got the chart, but I figured it was a good idea to make you a video of the tricky chords and to introduce a new scale! Let me know if you have any trouble...

E minor pentatonic scale has 5 notes. E, G, A, B, D. It's used a lot in rock n' roll, country, blues, etc. The guitar lick that I like so much in "Fancy" comes from this scale. Practice it slowly up and down, and then see if you can play the lick!

Hi Vera! I hope all is well. This week I thought we'd check out some Pasty Cline. She's one of my all time favorites and this song is one of her biggest hits. It's in the key of C so you'll know most of the chords already. At the end it goes to a key change - that means it changes to a different key to lift the song at bit. We can skip that part for now and just play the usual chords throughout. When you start seeing G# and C# in the chart, just fid those lyrics earlier somewhere and use the chords you used before. I hope all is going well and you guys are staying healthy. Nice choice with this song - I haven't heard this one in awhile!!! It's a pretty simple country tune, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. The main thing is to get the chords smooth and to start SLOW! I went over the strumming pattern in the video.
